another dud from Nissan’s bag of fireworks?
October 6th, 2005Nissan is readying a new car, the Teana , to compete with Toyota’s Avalon. Just one problem – whereas the Avalon is based on the Camry/ES330, the Teana will be based on the Maxima, which itself is based on the Altima.
So we expect the Teana to adopt the Maxima and Altimas baked-in faults as well, namely: torque steer, a lack of structural rigidity, a raucous engine, etc.
(Nissan knows that most people look at size and horsepower when judging how much value a car offers, and their recent products are always larger and often more powerful than the competition. But if there’s one thing Toyta knows better than Nissan its refinement).
We won’t know for certain until we’ve actually driven one but we’re not expecting much from the Teana…
